Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) has set the ball rolling insofar as its South American operations are concerned with the establishment of an Argentine holding company.

A review of the country's national gazette shows Norwegian Air Argentina (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) was established on January 25 with its board members said to be Diego Ferrari (Chief Executive Officer and Chairman), Matias Cambiaso and Hernán Ferrari. All three are members of a local law firm.

In terms of operational parameters, the firm will involve itself in the scheduled and chartered passenger market offering domestic and international flights.

As previously reported, Norwegian's manager of Communications and Institutional Relations (Spain), Alfons Claver, told La Nacion newspaper last year the LCC planned to base between six and ten aircraft - B737-800 and B737 MAX 8s - at two or three Argentine cities.

Among those considered for base operations include Buenos Aires, Córdoba International, and possibly Mendoza International. All aircraft will be enrolled on the country's national register.
