Volotea (V7, Barcelona El Prat) has announced it will open a fifth base in France with the advent of the Summer 2018 season.

In a statement, the Spanish LCC said it would deploy a pair of B717-200s to the Mediterranean port city of Marseilles from April onwards. Together, the aircraft will be used to supplement the carrier's existing Marseilles operations through the opening of routes to Biarritz (2x weekly, April-November 2018), Kerkyra (2x weekly, April-October 2018), Caen (2x weekly, from April onwards), Irakleion (1x weekly, April-October 2018), Mykonos (1x weekly, May-November 2018), Thira Santorini (2x weekly, April-October 2018), Menorca Mahón (2x weekly, May-October 2018), and Palma de Mallorca (1x weekly, April-October 2018).

Volotea's existing Marseilles services - Alicante, Dubrovnik, Faro, Naples Capodichino, Prague Václav Havel, Rennes, Split, Strasbourg Enzheim, Venice Marco Polo, and Vienna - will all be maintained and, in select instances, expanded.

The carrier currently operates a total of nine bases: Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux Mérignac, Palermo International, Strasbourg, Asturias, Verona, Toulouse Blagnac, and Genoa.
