Wuhan Tianhe International Airport has seen the launch of its first intercontinental dedicated cargo service.

In a statement, the central China hub said Shanghai-based Apex Logistics had contracted Kalitta Air (K4, Detroit Willow Run) to run a 3x weekly service between Chicago O'Hare and Wuhan.

Operations began on December 10 and will be followed by Uni-top Airlines (Kunming Changshui) which intends to start fights to Luxembourg towards month-end.

According to the ch-aviation Routes module, aside from Uni-Top Airlines, the only other known cargo specialists to serve Wuhan are China Postal Airlines, SF Airlines, and Suparna Airlines. Their flights currently only extend to other major cities across China.
