FlyPelican (FP, Newcastle Williamtown) is planning to start regional Australian passenger operations with flights from its Newcastle Williamtown base to Adelaide International, South Australia.

The carrier's Flight Operations Manager and Director, Emil McCabe, said in a statement operations would initially run using Fokker 70 equipment which could graduate to a Fokker 100 should demand prove sufficient. The flights start on March 26 and will be offered three times weekly with equipment wet-leased from Alliance Airlines (QQ, Brisbane International). The ch-aviation schedules module shows no carriers currently ply the Newcastle-Adelaide route.

Aside from the carrier's maiden venture into the jet operations niche, the route will also be FlyPelican's only service to a destination outside of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory enclaved within the state.

FlyPelican currently operates five Jetstream 32s on regular flights connecting Ballina, Newcastle Williamtown, Sydney Kingsford Smith, Taree, Mudgee, Dubbo, and Canberra.
