Safair (FA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) has deployed its only B737-400(F) into service for the Southern African branch of DHL Express, DHL Aviation (South Africa) (DHV, Johannesburg Lanseria). In a statement, the global logistics giant said ZS-JRC (msn 27143) will carry out 5x weekly flights between Johannesburg O.R. Tambo and Lusaka, Zambia, using Harare International, Zimbabwe, as a stopover. It replaces a Solenta Aviation ATR 72-200(F)/-500(F)/-600F that had plied the route previously.

“The increase in capacity of the new aircraft brings a new level of reliability and quality of service to the market. We will be able to adjust our aircraft operations to accommodate future increases in demand from the market by introducing even larger aircraft from our fleet where necessary. These developments will allow us to even better fulfil our obligations to our customers both in Southern and sub-Saharan Africa,” Malcolm Macbeth, Vice President (DHL Aviation - Middle East & Africa), said.

The Boeing jet is the first of its type to operate for DHL in the Southern Africa region and is the fourth B737-400(F) aircraft overall in its sub-Saharan Africa dedicated air freight network.
