Avianca (Bogotá) has taken delivery of its first A330-300 with N804AV (msn 1378) having been positioned to Medellín José Maria Córdova from Abu Dhabi International via Tenerife Sur this past weekend.

The aircraft is one of two Avianca acquired from bankrupt TransAsia Airways (Taipei Sung Shan) as part of the Taiwanese carrier's liquidation process. The other jet is N803AV (msn 1357) and will deliver later this summer. Together they will replace Avianca's B787-8s on trunk routes across the Americas thus freeing up the Boeing widebodies for transatlantic flights.

Avianca is an existing operator of the A330 Family of jets with eight A330-200s currently in service for the Colombian operator.
