Manta Air (NR, Malé) has taken delivery of its first aircraft as it prepares to complete certification and launch commercial flights next month.

According to Skyliner Aviation, ATR72-600 8Q-RAY (msn 1508) was ferried from Billund to Malé via Irakleion and Muscat over the course of November 10 to 12. On lease from Nordic Aviation Capital, it will be joined by a second of the type by year-end. It also plans to induct a fleet of amphibious DHC-6s for seaplane flights.

The Maldivian start-up's initial operations will connect Malé Velana International Airport to Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu atoll, Dharavandhoo Island in Baa atoll, and Thimarafushi in Thaa atoll.
