Kam Air (RQ, Kabul) has acquired its first turboprop aircraft in the form of two ATR42-500s.

According to deal facilitator Aerotask, the first machine is ex-Oman Air stock and was secured on a finance lease from an EU-based aircraft lessor. A second of the type will be delivered before the end of the year.

Kam Air plans to deploy the Avions de Transport Régional turboprops onto domestic Afghan services. It also operates three A340-300s, one B737-300, one -500, one B767-300(ER), one MD-82, two -87s, and one B737-500 (wet-leased from Ukrainian Wings).
