Manta Air (NR, Malé) has commenced revenue flight operations after having secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Maldivian Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA) on February 14.

The start-up's inaugural commercial service between its Malé base and Kudahuvadhoo took place on February 24. It intends to expand its network to include Dharavandhoo Island in Baa Atoll and Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll in the near future.

Operations are on-board a pair of ATR72-600s leased from Nordic Aviation Capital. Manta Air is also due to add a pair of DHC-6-300 seaplanes - msn 447 and 454 - both of which are still in Canada awaiting delivery to the Maldives.
