Yangon Airways (Yangon) is planning to rebrand as Air Thanlwin (ST, Yangon) as of October 1, 2019, the English-language news website Eleven has reported.

"The flight tickets are selling under the name of Yangon Airways currently, and the new airline name Air Thanlwin may be printed on the flight tickets from October 1," Department of Civil Aviation Deputy Director General Ye Htut Aung said.

Thanlwin is the Burmese name of the river also known as Salween or Nu, which rises in southern China and flows south cutting across the whole of Myanmar.

The airline currently operates two ATR72-200s and one -500 on a domestic network spanning ten destinations in Myanmar.
