Med-View Airline (Kano) will soon resume scheduled and charter operations after temporarily suspending them due to a lack of active aircraft, Nigeria's Daily Trust quoted COO Michael Ajigbotosho as saying at a press conference on October 31.

It suspended flight operations in August after its only remaining active aircraft, a B737-500, 5N-BQM (msn 28055), was grounded for technical reasons. Ajigbotoso said he was expecting the fleet to return to service very soon after completing C-checks.

Med-View currently possesses two owned B737-400s and one leased B737-500, all of which are currently inactive, plus one stored B777-200(ER), according to the ch-aviation fleets module.

Ajigbotosho stressed that Med-View had complied fully with the regulations of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and that the regulator was aware of its current status. He assured that the carrier would return stronger than before despite the recent operational difficulties.

“We appreciate the staff for their commitment in spite of the little operational challenges, which we believe are the hallmark of any business. Businesses have their high and low moments and I can tell you we are surmounting the challenges,” he said. “We have been consistent with our hajj operations over the last 14 years. We remain the only carrier to have done that successfully.”

The news conference came just two days after the NCAA downgraded Med-View from a scheduled passenger carrier to a charter operator due to its protracted inactivity.
