Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) intends to restart services from Cebu to Los Angeles International in May this year having suspended the route in May 2017. The move marks the return of intercontinental services from the city, according to Routes Online. The airline will also offer a new US destination, as it adds Seattle Tacoma International to its route portfolio from Manila Ninoy Aquino International, becoming its fifth US destination.

The national carrier will resume a 3x weekly service on the 6,382-nautical mile (11,819-kilometre) sector from Cebu to Los Angeles on May 2, 2020. Operating flights PR152/153, it will utilise its fleet of 10 B777-300(ER)s on the route. Services leave the Philippines at 2100L and touch down in the US at 1930L. Flights depart Los Angeles at 2230L and arrive in Cebu at 0500L (+ two days). The airline ended its 3x weekly A340-300 service between the two cities on 27 May, 2017, citing "capacity rationalisation" as the reason for suspending the service at the time.

The new route to Seattle will also be flown 3x weekly by Philippine Airlines, however this slightly shorter sector - at 5,788 nautical miles (10,719 kilometres) - will be operated by the carrier's six-strong fleet of A350-900s. Services depart the Philippine capital at 2245L, with flight PR128 arriving in the Washington State’s largest city at 1945L. The return sector, flight PR129 leaves the US port city at 2305L and lands in Manila at 0335L (+ two days).

Seattle joins the airline's existing US routes to Honolulu, New York JFK, San Francisco and Los Angeles, all of which are served from Manila. No other airline offers direct services between the Philippines and the US, however Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) operates a daily service from Honolulu to Manila via Tokyo Narita.
