UK low-cost carrier Jet2 (United Kingdom) (LS, Leeds/Bradford) has announced it will increase its capacity to Greece and Turkey after it decided to cancel all flights to Spain, a key summer destination from the UK, due to reimposed quarantine.

The British government abruptly reimposed a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all returnees from Spain on July 26 forcing Jet2 to suspend all services to mainland Spain through at least August 16 and to the Canary and Balearic Islands through at least August 10.

Shortly thereafter, without directly referring to the suspension of its Spain operations, Jet2 announced it would add capacity to Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum Milas, and Dalaman) and Greece (Kerkyra, Irakleion, Rhodes International, Kos Hippocrates, and Zakinthos).

In an interview with Travel Weekly, Jet2 Chief Executive Steve Heapy underlined that he hopes to restart services to Spain, or at least the Spanish islands, before the end of August.
