After the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to transition into an all-cargo charter specialist, AELF FlightService has now returned to the passenger ACMI/charter market.

Through its Maltese affiliate Maleth-Aero (MLT, Malta International), AELF said it currently proffers three A330-200s to the passenger ACMI/charter market, including two units in a single-class configuration seating up to 345 passengers each, and another seating up to 283 passengers, including 24 in business class. It plans to reactivate a further two A330-200s, each with a dual-class configuration of up to 295 passengers (including 12 in business class), in September and October 2022.

"We are thrilled to see our business continue to evolve and expand into new areas. Our experienced team is currently signing up long and short-term contracts for passenger ACMI and charter operations. We also anticipate continuing to offer P2F cargo service in the months ahead through a long-term STC that has been in the works throughout the past year," Associate Vice-President (Commercial) Stephen Haire said.

The company is developing its own Supplemental Type Certificate for both A330-200s and A340-600s (of which it operates three) in cooperation with Avensis and is currently undergoing regulatory scrutiny with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). AELF's/Maleth-Aero's ability to operate cargo flights was cut short at the end of July 2022, when EASA ended its exemption for the carriage of cargo in passenger cabins.
