Firefly (FY, Penang) is reportedly evaluating placing an order for DHC-8-400s according to a news article published by Malaysian newspaper Business Times. According to statements made by Firefly CEO Ignatius Ong in the same article, Firefly is currently reviewing all turboprop options allowing frequency increases on existing routes and routes with longer stage lengths. While Ong did not specifically say that, the Dash 8-400 obviously has an advantage over the ATR 72-500 or ATR 72-600 on longer flights thanks to its higher flight speed.
