Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) and Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga) are still expected to merge within the next 18 months according to statements made by Libyan Airlines CEO Khaled Taynaz to Arabian Aerospace. The merger project had been announced prior to the civil war in Libya and it was first unclear if the two carriers would still continue with the plan after the end of the war. Taynaz has also confirmed that the merged carrier would operate under the Libyan Airlines brand.
