SunExpress (XQ, Antalya) has placed a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for forty-five B737 MAX with options for another 45 aircraft.

The order, signed during the ongoing Dubai Airshow 2023, comprises twenty-eight B737-8s and seventeen B737-10s. The options are not assigned to a specific variant.

"Over the next decade, we will more than double our fleet, reaching a 150-aircraft fleet by 2033. Also, the addition of the B737-10, the newest B737 MAX plane with up to 230 seats, to our fleet will allow us to strengthen our capacity further. SunExpress is well-positioned for the future and will expand its network with a more fuel-efficient and environmentally sustainable aircraft fleet while continuing to fulfil its role as Türkiye's tourism ambassador," Chief Executive Max Kownatzki said.

The new order is incremental to the previous commitments of 2014-2015, when the leisure specialist, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, ordered forty-two B737-8s. Nine of these aircraft have already been delivered, while the other thirty-three are still outstanding. The airline has also taken two more B737-8s on lease from 777 Partners. Its fleet also comprises fifty B737-800s, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
