One Air (HC, London Stansted) has relocated its base in the United Kingdom from London Heathrow to Nottingham East Midlands, from which it will now serve its scheduled charter flights to Hong Kong International and other charters.

"East Midlands Airport has a lot of important plus points which make it attractive for all-cargo operations, including the availability of slots and fewer restrictions around night flying compared to other airports," Chief Operating Officer Chris Hope explained. "East Midlands Airport also has a very understanding and progressive attitude towards freighter operators."

The British cargo specialist operated the last Heathrow-Hong Kong flight with one of its two B747-400(BDSF)s, G-UNET (msn 25075), on March 29, 2024, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. The return leg, operated via Muscat, arrived at East Midlands.

While G-UNET was subsequently flown to Victorville for maintenance on April 2, the carrier received its second B747-400(BDSF), G-ONEE (msn 24998), back from maintenance. It flew from Victorville via Ontario International to East Midlands on April 4-5 and began operating the Hong Kong route on April 6. One Air has exclusively focused on this route since late February 2024.

Last year, the airline touted adding a third B747 freighter for the first quarter of 2024. It did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment regarding whether this plan was still in place. However, it recently published a job advertisement for B777-type rated pilots.
