China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) has announced plans to place a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) to be able to start replacing its fleet of six A340-300s delivered between 2001 and 2003 by six B777-300ERs from 2014 onwards. The carrier has said that strong demand to China and Japan would have been the key drivers for the fleet replacement decision.
