FlyUSA (Tampa International) has announced the acquisition of Part 135 operator TRYP Air Charter and affiliated company MySky Aviation Solutions.
"This transaction results in FlyUSA becoming the largest and most active combined turboprop and light jet fleet in the state of Florida," said Barry Shevlin, co-founder and chief executive officer of FlyUSA.
TRYP holds a Part 135 certificate which includes four PC-12s. With this acquisition, FlyUSA's managed fleet grows to 28 aircraft, while the company's charter fleet - currently comprising a PC-12, a Citation Bravo, four Citation Ultras, and two Hawker 800XPis - expands to 12 aircraft.
Shevlin told ch-aviation that the PC-12s operated under TRYP's certificate will transition over time to FlyUSA's, although no fixed timeline has been set. He also noted the possibility of adding other aircraft types to TRYP’s Part 135 operations. Meanwhile, FlyUSA expects to add three more PC-12s to the charter fleet by the end of 2025.
The deal also includes the takeover of MySky, a charter brokerage, consulting, and aircraft management firm affiliated with TRYP. Elliot Mintzer, founder and CEO of MySky and TRYP, will join FlyUSA to oversee the turboprop fleet. He highlighted the growth potential for TRYP and MySky's clients under the FlyUSA umbrella and the companies’ established presence in the Southeast and Bahamas markets.
