IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) is planning to convert the remaining 40 purchase options for A350-900 into firm orders, the Economic Times newspaper reported, citing an unnamed source from Airbus.

The Indian low-cost carrier secured 70 purchase rights when it signed its first widebody order for thirty A350-900s in April 2025. IndiGo has since signed a memorandum of understanding with the European manufacturer to double its existing order from thirty to sixty aircraft, leaving it with 40 unconfirmed purchase rights.

ch-aviation asked the airline for a comment, but it was not immediately available.

According to the ch-aviation data, IndiGo's fleet comprises 403 aircraft. The carrier does not have in-house widebody aircraft but is damp-leasing an B787-9s from Norse Atlantic Airways (with five more due from the same carrier) and two B777-300ERs from Turkish Airlines. The lease agreement with Turkish Airlines runs until August 31 and will not be extended.
