Edelweiss Air (WK, Zurich) plans to take its first A320-200N in April 2026, adding its first new-generation narrowbody from the fleet of parent Swiss (LX, Zurich).
HB-JDB (msn 9379) is a 2020-vintage aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1000 engines and features an all-economy cabin layout with 180 seats. Flightradar24 ADS-B data indicates that the aircraft has been stored at Zurich since September 2023. HB-JDB is owned by Lufthansa Group, ch-aviation data shows.
Edelweiss Air said in the press release that the induction of the A320-200N will create new growth opportunities, enabling it to launch longer narrowbody services that are out of reach for the A320-200s. However, the airline told ch-aviation it has not selected specific routes yet.
The leisure-focused airline has touted narrowbody fleet modernisation, but has yet to place any order or announce more additions beyond the single A320-200N. The chief executive officer, Bernd Bauer, has previously said that the A320-200N would be the "ideal successor model" for the airline's current A320-200s.
The company told ch-aviation it was unable to specify when more A320-200Ns could join the fleet.
Edelweiss Air's fleet currently comprises fourteen A320-200s, five A340-300s, and two A350-900s. The company expects the delivery of four more A350-900s as it looks to replace the ageing A340-300s by mid-2027. Edelweiss Air has also announced it will take over one A320-200, HB-JLQ (msn 4673), from Swiss in mid-October 2025, growing the number of narrowbody aircraft to 15 by year-end.
