Airbus has confirmed that the premium economy seats on Air Côte d'Ivoire's new A330-900N aircraft are temporarily blocked while awaiting certification from regulators, delaying their availability for passengers.

"The Premium Economy seats on Air Côte d'Ivoire's A330neo fleet are currently undergoing certification by the relevant authorities, which explains why these seats are temporarily blocked in the cabin. As the manufacturer, we are working closely with the relevant authorities and the seat supplier to ensure that certification is completed as soon as possible," an Airbus spokeswoman informed ch-aviation.

The airline received its first A330neo on September 4 from the manufacturer, with a second due in October.

It is the carrier’s only widebody and will launch daily Abidjan-Paris CDG flights on September 18. Future long-haul plans include services to the United States (New York and Washington Dulles) by 2027, along with flights to Geneva, London, and Beirut.
