Avelo Airlines (XP, Burbank) has decided to bring forward the closure of its operations on the West Coast from December 2 to October 20, including ending its base at Burbank.

In a statement to ch-aviation, Avelo Airlines said, “We decided to end our operations earlier on October 20 due to lower demand during our final month and issues with airport operations. Customers have been emailed with their options and refund information.”

ch-aviation schedule data shows that Avelo serves Arcata/Eureka, Eugene, Medford, Pasco, and Redmond from Burbank.

The company opted to halt its presence in the region after Burbank failed to “deliver adequate financial results in a highly competitive backdrop.” Avelo Airlines denied that protests in California over its decision to operate deportation flights for the US Department of Homeland Security had any influence on its exit from the market.

Avelo’s remaining bases across the United States are Concord, NC, Hartford Bradley, Lakeland, New Haven, Orlando International, Raleigh/Durham, Santa Rosa, CA, and Wilmington New Castle. The company recently announced a fresh capital injection and an order for up to 100 E195-E2s.
