Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) has announced Fes Saïss and Marrakech as its 56th and 57th bases and the first aircraft bases outside the European Union from April. Ryanair currently already serves 15 routes from Fes and 22 from Marrakech and will base one B737-800 in Fes and two of the aircraft in Marrakech. From Fez it will mainly concentrate on France with the four new destinations of Lille Lesquin, Nantes, Nîmes Garons and St. Etienne being added. From Marrakech, Ryanair will introduce new routes to Bergerac, Cuneo, Dole, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Memmingen, Paris Chalons-Vatry and Tours Val de Loire. The Irish low-cost carrier already has bases at Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur with a total of six aircraft based on the Canary Islands, so at least geographically the new Morrocan bases are not the first Ryanair bases in Africa.
