SpiceJet (SG, Delhi International) said it will add 20 aircraft between October and November 2025 to support its network expansion for the year-end peak travel season. The additional capacity will come from reactivations of grounded aircraft and external leases with various ACMI providers.
"By December 2025, our expanded fleet will help us more than double capacity and triple our ASK [available seat kilometres], marking a major milestone in our growth journey," chief business officer Debojo Maharshi said.
According to the Indian LCC, it had already inducted five aircraft as of early November as part of an “aggressive winter expansion plan.” These included one reactivated B737-8, three damp-leased B737-800s, and one A340-300.
In recent weeks, the carrier disclosed multiple damp-lease contracts with various ACMI operators to aid its capacity shortage. Earlier in November, it announced a wet-lease deal with Fly4 Airlines (F4, Dublin International) for four B737-800s until May 2026.
ch-aviation fleets data shows SpiceJet has eleven damp-leased aircraft in its fleet, comprising two B737-8s from Ascend Airways (YD, London Gatwick), two B737-800s from Corendon Airlines Europe (XR, Malta International), two B737-800s from Fly4 Airlines, one A340-300 from Legend Airlines (Romania) (LZ, Bucharest Henri Coanda), and four B737-800s from Smartwings (Czechia) (QS, Prague Václav Havel).
By the end of November, SpiceJet aims to double its operational fleet amid surging passenger demand. According to ch-aviation fleets data, the carrier's in-house fleet numbers 54 aircraft, of which only 19 are currently active.
SpiceJet's in-house fleet comprises five B737-700s, three B737-700(BDSF)s, seven B737-8s, twelve B737-800s, three B737-900ERs, and twenty-four DHC-8-Q400s. It serves 40 destinations across 126 routes, based on ch-aviation schedules data.
