VietJetAir (VJ, Hanoi Noi Bai International) is expecting to induct 22 aircraft, comprising Airbus, Boeing, and wet-leased COMAC aircraft, in December 2025 alone, according to the airline's press release.
The Vietnamese carrier will receive seven unspecified Airbus aircraft, most likely A321-200NX. It currently has 176 units on order for that type, excluding a separate commitment for nineteen A321-200NY(XLR)s, per ch-aviation fleets data.
Moreover, it confirmed plans, previously reported by ch-aviation, to resume the wet-leasing of two C909s from Chengdu Airlines (EU, Chengdu Shuangliu) to service its flights to Con Dao from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Noi Bai International. The carrier previously undertook a similar ACMI arrangement from April to October 2025.
Additionally, Thai VietJetAir (VZ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) will take delivery of nine unspecified Boeing aircraft, likely to be further B737-8s. In late November, the Thai entity received the group's first two B737 MAX aircraft out of the 200 it directly ordered from the American OEM.
VietJetAir also announced that it will wet-lease four additional aircraft on top of the COMAC jets, as it anticipates increased demand during the holidays. It did not disclose further information about the wet-lease, though ch-aviation understands one of those four jets is an A320-200 from BBN Airlines Thailand, operating for Thai VietJetAir.
VietJetAir operates an in-house fleet of sixteen A320-200s, thirty-six A321-200s, eleven A321-200Ns, twenty-six A321-200NX, and eight A330-300s. Meanwhile, Thai VietJetAir operates twelve A320-200s, six A321-200s, and two B737-8s.
