Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) will reopen its base at Tirgu Mures in Romania on March 29, 2026. The low-cost carrier will base a single A320-200N out of the city and launch nine new routes from the airport, namely to Brussels Charleroi, Larnaca, Paris Beauvais, Dortmund, Memmingen, Milan Bergamo, Rome Fiumicino, Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH, and London Luton. It will also retain an existing route from Budapest. Wizz Air opened a Tirgu Mures base for the first time in 2011, but closed it by 2018.
The airline also said it would add Oradea, northwestern Romania, as a new destination to its network, albeit not as a base. Wizz Air already has eight bases in the country: Bucharest Baneasa, Bucharest Henri Coanda, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iasi, Sibiu, Suceava, and Timisoara.
