Rise Air (4T, Saskatoon) has taken delivery of its first of three ATR72-600s directly from ATR - Avions de Transport Régional. The turboprop is also the first of its type to be delivered in Canada.
“Introducing the ATR72-600 is about delivering modern, safe, and reliable air transportation to remote work sites and infrastructure projects that are vital to Saskatchewan’s economy,” said Derek Nice, president and chief executive officer of Rise Air.
In a previous interview with ch-aviation, Nice said that if the new aircraft type excels in the environment that the indigenous-owned carrier operates, including unpaved runways and remote locations, the company could mull acquiring more ATR72-600s.
C-GTNG (msn 1740) was registered in Canada on December 22, but is yet to be ferried to Rise Air’s base in Saskatoon.
Transport Canada granted type certification for the ATR72-600 and ATR42-600 types on November 27, 2025. Besides Rise Air, another company looking to add the former is Hydro-Québec (HYD, Montréal Trudeau), which ordered three ATR72-600s as part of its fleet renewal process.
