Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has taken delivery of its first A321-200NX, the first of ten units of the type it has signed up for on dry-lease from AerCap.
HS-TOA (msn 12846) was handed over to the airline on December 23 and subsequently ferried from Hamburg Finkenwerder via Dubai World Central to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi on December 24.
"The arrival of Thai's first Airbus A321neo marks a significant milestone in our efforts to modernise and enhance the efficiency of our fleet. The first ten aircraft entering into service will be operated under lease agreements with AerCap. This partnership supports Thai's fleet modernisation and helps strengthen our fleet and global competitiveness," chief executive Chai Eamsiri said.
The remaining nine A321-200NX on lease from AerCap are due for staged deliveries until 2028. The second of the batch will be HS-TOB (msn 12942). The airline aims to induct the new type into revenue service by mid-January 2026.
The airline will use the new-generation widebodies to replace and grow its current narrowbody fleet comprising twenty A320-200s. While it has no direct orders for any aircraft of the type from Airbus, it signed up for a total of 32 aircraft from various lessors, including the ten from AerCap.
