Porter Airlines (P3, Toronto Billy Bishop City Centre) will close its crew bases at Halifax and Thunder Bay by May 7, 2026. The decision will affect around 60 staff members, who were offered transfer to bases at Ottawa International or Toronto Billy Bishop City Centre. "We found that consolidating crew bases in these two cities is the most effective way to organise crew and operate flights," the airline said. The decision will not affect a minor maintenance base the airline has at Thunder Bay. Porter Airlines (which operates through the AOC of Porter Airlines Canada) is the second-largest operator at Halifax (20.5% market share by capacity, trailing Air Canada) and largest at Thunder Bay (41.3%).
