Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) will invest USD250 million to revamp the main terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International, becoming its anchor carrier following the completion of an ongoing expansion project. On January 7, 2026, the government of the city of Austin announced the finalisation of ten-year use and lease agreements with the airport's key operators. The agreements will contribute towards Austin-Bergstrom's USD5 billion expansion, which will see the introduction of 32 new gates, nearly doubling its current total of 34. Southwest Airlines, the airport's dominant carrier ahead of Delta, will become the key operator at a new terminal. The two airlines announced base openings at Austin in December and August respectively.
