Jazz Air (QK, Halifax) is closing its flight attendant base at Halifax on March 1 to “better align our crew resources with the flying schedule,” the company told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
According to ch-aviation schedules data, Jazz Air, which operates flights on behalf of Air Canada, only has one scheduled flight out of Halifax, to Ottawa International. Most outsourced Air Canada flights from Halifax are currently operated by PAL Airlines (Canada), which is taking over some routes from Jazz under the Air Canada Express brand.
CBC reports that impacted employees were given the option to transfer to other bases, at Vancouver International, Toronto Pearson, and Montréal Trudeau. Jazz’s headquarters, operations centre, and heavy maintenance facility in Halifax are not affected.
In parallel, Porter Airlines is also gearing up to close its Halifax crew base in May, and may consolidate operations in Toronto and Ottawa.
