Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin International) has confirmed that it will suspend all transatlantic services from Manchester as of March 31, 2026. A connection to New York JFK will cease from February 23, and a service to Bridgetown, Barbados, will be operated from Dublin International throughout April and May to accommodate affected passengers. The decision is the result of extensive and unfruitful negotiations with trade unions and employee representatives, as the carrier ultimately found the margins at the Manchester base, though profitable since its 2021 inception, significantly lower than at its other comparable bases.
Aer Lingus stated that the development would not impact its flights between Manchester and Ireland, but it did not offer any information about the possibility of losing its Aer Lingus (United Kingdom) certificate, which it uses solely for transatlantic operations from this city.
