Australia has earmarked AUD5 million Australian dollars (USD3.5 million) to compensate regional and remote airports affected by the voluntary administration of Rex - Regional Express (ZL, Wagga Wagga), infrastructure minister Catherine King said. Applications for the aid close March 17, 2026.
The Australian Airports Association said individual airports are owed AUD45,000-650,000 (USD31,000-450,000) as unsecured creditors. The funding follows Rex's acquisition by US-based Air T supported by a government AUD60 million (USD41.8 million) commercial loan and the restructuring of AUD108 million (USD75.3 million) in debt, alongside commitments to restore its operational Saab 340A fleet from 30 to 44.
