St. Helena has resumed scheduled commercial operations after a 12-day closure on February 17, 2026. The island airport restored its Category 6 fire safety status on February 15, 2026. Commercial operations at the airport were suspended on February 6 after the airport's firefighting capabilities were downgraded to Category 4. Following the completion of critical repairs, the weekly service operated by Airlink (South Africa) from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo will now continue as scheduled. Resumption of Airlink's monthly service to Ascension Island will follow once schedules are adjusted to consider the demanding operating conditions and crew working hours.
