Meteorito Airlines, formerly known as Movil Air (Nazca), is evaluating a fleet modernisation and expansion strategy that includes operating scheduled passenger flights with a fleet of narrowbody aircraft such as the Airbus A320 or the Boeing B737, the company said in a press release.

The Peruvian carrier is rebranding itself after investment from a United Arab Emirates-backed fund in 2024 acquired an undisclosed share in the company. As Movil Air, the airline started operations in 2000, offering sightseeing flights over the Nazca region using a fleet of Cessna Aircraft Company 207A and 208 Grand Caravan aircraft.

“Its long-term vision includes operating both regional feeder services and larger-capacity routes using modern aircraft,” it said.

In parallel to the ongoing plans, the company is preparing for certification under expanded regulatory standards (RAP 121), which would allow it to operate scheduled domestic and regular flights. At the moment, it is only certified by the Peruvian civil aviation authority (Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil - DGAC) as a RAP 135 operator.

According to ch-aviation fleet data, Peru is home to six active passenger scheduled carriers: Air Majoro, Avior Airlines Peru, JetSMART Perú, LATAM Airlines Perú, SKY Airline Perú, and Star Perú.
