The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a tentative foreign air carrier permit (FACP) and an exemption to Wizz Air UK (W9, London Luton) to operate scheduled and charter flights from the United Kingdom to the United States. While the permit covers all types of operations, both passenger and cargo, the low-cost carrier said it currently has no ambitions to operate scheduled flights across the Atlantic. Its near-term goal is limited to ad-hoc charters, including operations during the upcoming 2026 football world cup co-hosted by the US.
