Akasa Air (QP, Mumbai International) has announced plans to establish the carrier's first dedicated maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Jewar Noida International on March 13, 2026. According to a press release, the site will be located within the boundaries of the upcoming greenfield airport.
The new MRO facility supports state and federal government objectives to cultivate a dedicated aviation maintenance hub at the new airport. Akasa Air intends to utilise the facility to perform "a broad spectrum of aircraft maintenance activities".
"As India's aviation market continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, developing strong domestic MRO capabilities will be critical for airlines to operate efficiently and reliably at scale," Akasa Air founder and chief executive, Vinay Dube, said.
Per ch-aviation fleets data, Akasa Air currently operates twenty-three B737-8s and twelve B737-8-200s. It has further commitments for ninety-two more B737-8-200s and ninety-nine B737-10s.
Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, manages the Noida airport project under a 40-year concession. The initial phase of the development includes one runway and one passenger terminal designed to handle 12 million passengers annually.
