The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has granted interim authorisation to Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) and American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) to continue their transpacific joint business ahead of the expiry of their current approval on April 16, 2026. The partnership covers services between Australia, New Zealand, and North America, centred on connectivity via Dallas/Fort Worth and other US gateways.
The decision allows the airlines to maintain coordination of schedules, capacity, and revenues while the regulator reviews an application for a new five-year authorisation lodged in November 2025.
