Skybus (United Kingdom) (8Y, Land's End) terminated its public service obligation (PSO) flights between Newquay and London Gatwick on April 3, 2026, almost two months earlier than planned. The airline attributed the decision to the rapidly rising fuel prices and the low demand. Chief executive, Jonathan Hinkles, said that passenger interest plummeted after the Cornwall Council decided to end financing of the route after May 31. Skybus was wet-leasing an DHC-8-Q400 from Universal Air for the route until the end of March. Flights on April 1 and 2 were operated by Ascend Airways with a B737-8.
