Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) and LATAM Airlines Brasil (JJ, São Paulo Congonhas) have announced a long-term commercial agreement for MRO services focused on A320 component repair, the companies said in a statement.
While subject to regulatory approvals, the deal seeks to address growing global demand for A320 maintenance solutions, reinforcing the technical collaboration between both companies, they said.
As it stands today, Delta TechOps supports LATAM Airlines Group’s fleet through advanced repair capabilities at its Atlanta facilities, including engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul for A320neo and B787 aircraft. LATAM provides component maintenance support to Delta at its São Carlos Francisco Pereira Lopez MRO facility in Brazil.
The plan seeks to expand their commercial cooperation and “leverage our complementary strengths and broaden the maintenance solutions available for global customers,” said Alain Bellemare, chairman of Delta TechOps.
LATAM’s MRO facility at São Carlos is a 95,000-square-metre complex employing about 2,400 workers, featuring nine hangars and 22 specialised workshops, with capacity to support up to 18 aircraft simultaneously.
ch-aviation fleets data shows LATAM operates 135 A320-200s, fifty-two A320-200Ns, forty-nine A321-200s, and twenty-one A321-200NX across all its AOCs, while Delta operates forty-seven A320-200s, 127 A321-200s, and ninety-two A321-200NX among a total fleet of 1,016 aircraft.
