Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) and Jetstar Airways (JQ, Melbourne Airport) will extend previously announced capacity reductions until September 30, 2026. The adjustments address elevated fuel costs linked to the Middle East conflict and strong European travel demand.
Qantas Group will reduce planned international capacity by 2 percentage points. The mainline will suspend its Sydney Kingsford Smith-Bengaluru International route from August until late October, and extend additional Perth International-Rome Fiumicino flights until the end of October. Both carriers will cut domestic capacity on major capital city routes by 5 percentage points.
