The government of Israel is looking for alternative carriers to take on the role of a "local" low-cost carrier with a base at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, after talks with Wizz Air have repeatedly stalled. Transport minister Miri Regev has reportedly been trying to convince the Hungarian LCC to resume flying to Israel promptly, but Wizz Air has yet to announce such a step. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a non-binding conflict zone information bulletin warning against flights to Israel until at least May 12. The Israeli government has already implemented regulatory changes to facilitate the basing of foreign aircraft overnight at Tel Aviv and hopes that even if talks with Wizz Air collapse, these rules could entice other operators.
