Lufthansa Group has placed a firm order for ten A350-900s and ten B787-9s, without disclosing which of its airlines the aircraft will be allocated to. Deliveries are planned between 2032 and 2034. They will be earmarked for replacement of older-generation widebodies rather than growth.
The holding company already operates both types. ch-aviation data shows Lufthansa operates thirty-one A350-900s and seventeen B787-9s. Swiss operates two A350-900s, Edelweiss Air four, and ITA Airways (in which the group holds a 41% stake) six. Austrian Airlines' fleet includes three B787-9s. The group already had a further twenty-one A350-900s (alongside fifteen A350-1000s) and twenty-two B787-9s on order, excluding the new commitment.
