China Southern Air Holding, the controlling shareholder of China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou), has approved the carrier's plan to issue up to 5,436,289,835 A-shares to raise a maximum of CNY15 billion yuan (USD2.2 billion). The board of directors authorised the private placement in late April. The transaction remains subject to shareholder approval, a Shanghai Stock Exchange review, and China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) registration.
