Plans to enable A320-200N operations at London City through a revised approach profile have faced opposition from the London Assembly environment committee over concerns about noise, emissions, and potential impacts on nearby residents. The committee has called for the proposal to be paused until independent, real-world assessments are conducted, arguing existing data is insufficient to evaluate the effects.
The airport says the change would allow larger, newer aircraft to operate with fewer flights while maintaining connectivity and reducing per-passenger noise. The UK Civil Aviation Authority is due to decide by autumn 2026.
