Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has inducted its first converted freighter, a B777-300(ERSF), and began its revenue operations on June 30, 2026.
A6-EBK (msn 34481) operated the first flight from Dubai World Central to Hong Kong International. ch-aviation schedules show that the airline plans to also deploy the converted widebody on services to Accra-Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta-Amsterdam Schiphol, Lusaka-Harare International-Nairobi-Amsterdam, Lagos-Accra-Nairobi-Amsterdam this summer. Starting in October, it also plans to operate the B777-300(ERSF) on services to Dakar Blaise Diagne International-Conakry-Nairobi, Addis Ababa International-Entebbe-Nairobi, and Phnom Penh Techo International.
The 20.4-year-old aircraft was previously operated by Emirates in passenger configuration until October 2025. It was converted by Israel Aerospace Industries at the Tel Aviv Ben Gurion facility.
The airline underlined that the -300(ERSF) can carry up to 100 tonnes of cargo and offers 811 cubic metres of cargo volume, representing a 25% increase in cargo volume over the B777-200Fs, which are derived from the smaller B777-200 variant.
Emirates' fleet of dedicated freighters currently comprises sixteen B777-200Fs. The airline also sources three B747 freighters from Compass Cargo Airlines, and one each from Aerotranscargo and AirACT under long term wet leases. It plans to take five more B777-200Fs and one additional B777-300(ERSF) by the end of 2026, and a further three converted aircraft in 2027.
