CMA CGM has signed a preliminary agreement to acquire maintenance provider Crystal Aero Solutions for an undisclosed sum, and also agreed to buy FedEx Supply Chain for a total valuation of USD1.4 billion. Crystal Aero Solutions, which has facilities at Paris CDG, Brussels National, and Liège, already performs maintenance for CMA CGM Air Cargo, the firm's in-house air operator, and will remain an independent provider also servicing third-party airlines. FedEx Supply Chain will strengthen CMA CGM's CEVA Logistics arm. Although the US company is separate from FedEx Express airline, CMA CGM and FedEx said they will "work together on select air cargo capacity solutions to enhance their respective global networks in the interest of higher aircraft utilisation and flexible long-haul capacity."
