The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has doubled the period of validity of aircraft certificates of airworthiness from one year to two years, citing a shortage of safety inspectors and a growing national fleet. The regulator said the move will reduce pressure on inspection teams while maintaining oversight standards. Kenya's aircraft register has grown from 735 aircraft in 2020 to 782 in 2025 and is projected to reach about 1,000 within four years, increasing demand for certification services.
